BLUES BASH 3! DARRELL NULISCH AND SUGAR RAY

The Darrell Nulisch Band

Sugar Ray and The Bluetones

The Fallout Shelter - 61 Endicott Street, Norwood, MA, 02062

The 3rd Annual Fallout Shelter Blues Bash featuring two masters of blues music, The Darrell Nulisch Band AND Sugar Ray And the Bluetones!

THE DARRELL NULISCH BAND

This is as ALL-STAR BAND as ALL-STAR BANDS gets...Darrell aside, add the incendiary guitar player Chris Vitarello, Hammond organ master Dave Limina (Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters) and the magnificent rhythm section of Mike Law on bass and Lorne Entress on drums and you have one of the best bands you could possibly assemble in this region of the country. The show we hosted in March 2024 was SOLD OUT and they absolutely crushed it. The place was electric, the band fired on all cylinders and Darrell Nulisch was incredible!!

Darrell Nulisch is one of the region...and, frankly, the country's best "blue-eyed" soul and blues voices. He was born and raised in Dallas, TX listening to the sounds of Otis Redding and Al Green which obviously rubbed off on him. He was a founding member of Anson Funderberg and The Rockets which became the precursor to the explosion of Texas Blues with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc... Nulisch went North to New England and landed the gig as vocalist for Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters and then as vocalist for the legendary James Cotton. Oh, and did I mention Darrell Nulisch is one BADASS harmonica player?

SUGAR RAY AND THE BLUETONES

Sugar Ray and the Bluetones have been playing their unique style of blues the world over for almost forty years. Not limited to one style, but able to play Chicago Blues in the style of Muddy Waters. Little Walter and Billy Boy Arnold; Kansas City Swing in the style of "Big" Joe Turner; Texas Blues like "T" Bone Walker and Freddie King; and the swampy Louisiana sounds of "Lazy" Lester-all played with distinctive originality .

All of the members of Sugar Ray and the Bluetones have been featured on other Artists recordings which include Roomful of Blues, Hubert Sumlin, John Hammond, Johnny Winter, J.Geils, Otis Grand, Pinetop Perkins, The Mannish Boys, Sugaray Rayford, Debbie Davies, Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl and many more. They are part of the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame and one of the greatest New England bands ever!
