BOSTON MARATHON JIMMY FUND FUNDRAISER FOR FERNANDO'S FIGHT!

Featuring The EVAN GOODROW BAND!

The Fallout Shelter - 61 Endicott Street, Norwood, MA, 02062

One of the most satisfying and important missions of The Grass Roots Cultural and Performing Arts Center is our continuing mission to help our community raise awareness and, of course, to raise money for important causes. Our fundraisers have raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and support, brain cancer research, service dogs for wounded veterans and more. When we were approached by one of our most loyal supporters to help her raise money for her Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk Team "Fernando's Fight" we were more than happy to get involved. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Jimmy Fund to fight and help alleviate childhood cancer. Fernando's Fight in particular is raising money and awareness to fight Ewing Sarcoma, a pediatric bone cancer. There will be raffles and prizes during the event and musical guests The Evan Goodrow Band will be providing the entertainment for the evening. This is a worthy cause with great entertainment and we hope you can attend and help support this amazing group of people as they walk to find a cure!

In case you didn't know...

Evan Goodrow is an American singer-songwriter-guitarist and has written and produced 18 recordings of original soul, funk, blues and rock music.

He’s won the Boston Blues Award, played concerts for Marines on Nato bases in Europe and even jammed with Jimmy Buffet multiple occasions in the Caribbean. played multiple shows with B.B. King and even sang for the Yardbirds (technically making him the youngest Yardbird, ever).

Born in Ohio and raised north of Boston, he got his start playing jazz guitar and singing acoustic folk in coffee houses in the early 2000’s but quickly grabbed a funk rhythm section and a saxophone player and began touring around New England playing blues and jam venues and festivals.

His version of the Phil Collins classic "In The Air Tonight" is a biblical experience!!

His single “Let Me” (from 2010’s “Say It”) was on Amazon’s most downloaded “independent” singles.

In 2008 he was chosen to bring a band to Europe to play Nato bases for military troops in the Middle East conflict and was an official representative for “Support Us” an independent long distance United States Military Voting initiative.
He also headlined Deval Patrick's inauguration concert in Boston MA that same year.
