THE BROTHERS PROJECT

ALLMAN BROTHERS '72 MUSCLE SHOALS SESSIONS

The Fallout Shelter - 61 Endicott Street, Norwood, MA, 02062

It's no surprise that The Fallout Shelter is very cautious when it comes to "Tribute" Bands. Not that we have any problem with tribute bands but The Fallout Shelter has always tried to stay on the original music course. We host "No Static" and "Little Lies" because those bands are true to the traditional interpretation of the music of Steely Dan and Fleetwood Mac respectively. When we were approached by The Brothers Project the first order of business was how true were they to the interpretation and celebration of the music? The Allman Brothers were a monumentally influential band with intensely intricate music. Paying homage to the Allman's is no easy lift. The second order of business was could we accommodate the Brothers Project within the confines of their current stage set-up. Therein was the "snag." The Brothers Project is a big band with a vast stage production and we just wouldn't do that stage setup any justice. We offered to host this show but we wanted a more "theatrical" event...strip the show down, do it as a recording session...in the round, and then the idea to recreate the iconic Muscle Shoals Sessions from 1972 was presented to the band. The Fallout Shelter will produce a show with The Brothers Project but it will be unlike anything fans of this band have ever seen. It'll be all the hits and the celebration of the music of The Allman Brothers but it'll be like being in the studio and not in a stadium.

It all started with the passing of Gregg Allman. What began as two buddies, Rich Dooley and Jim, playing five iconic Allman Brothers tunes at local blues jams has evolved into something much bigger. Those early jam sessions paid tribute to one of America’s greatest Southern rock institutions: The Allman Brothers Band. Today, that open-mic project has transformed into a full-scale, high-octane tribute performance: The Brothers Project.

Led by founder Rich Dooley, who channels the legendary slide and lead guitar work of the late Great, Duane Allman, the band’s definitive lineup delivers an authentic, powerhouse experience:

Ralph Whittemore taps into the deep heart and soul of bass master Berry Oakley.
Dave Cunningham delivers the gritty, soulful lead vocals of Gregg Allman.
David Bazin executes the intricate, soaring guitar licks of Dickey Betts.
Rich Milne drives the rhythm section with the relentless energy of Butch Trucks.
Jerry Bates adds the essential "Jaimoe" flare, perfectly accenting Milne’s groove.
Brendan Lynch weaves it all together on keys, offering percussive piano solos and the haunting, swirling vibrato of a lush Hammond organ.
Rick Morin rounds out the wall of sound, supplying everything from congas and wind chimes to blistering blues harp.
This is The Brothers Project—an early Allman Brothers Experience and Beyond!
